Google search commands are an easy way to check many things related to your website. Using simple search commands you can check how your site is doing in Google search results.
How to use a Google search command?
Open Google search box. Now in the search box, type info:sitename.com and press enter or go.
This command will open a complete list of commands that you can use to check the various aspects of your website. Apart from this you can also use the same operators or command directly as well.
1. To check the indexed pages of your website-
Open Google search, and type the following text site:websitename.com
E.g-To check the indexed for semseogurus.com , in the search box type-
site:semseogurus.com [Remember:-Don’t use a space between the operator and the URL.)
Using this command you can perform the search for a domain or limit it to subdomain or sub-directory as well. If you want to search for the indexed pages within the subdomain simply put the sub-domain name at the end.
For example, site:semseogurus.com/blog
Google also allows you to exclude the website pages from your search. If you want to exclude the pages from your search, use a minus sign before the operator.
For example, site:semseogurus.com -site:semseogurus.com/seo gives you all the indexed pages on the semseogurus.com domain without the pages from semseogurus.com/seo
2. To check the linked pages of your website-
In the Google search type:
link:website name and click search.
All the website pages will be shown.
E.g.- link:semseogurus.com or link:www.semseogurus.com
Unlike site operator, the link command can be used with or without www but it is recommended to use the first search. The search without www will return more complete results. If you want to search for links to specific pages or subdirectories, you can simpley add their name in the end just like you did for the site search.
3. To check the Google’s cache date of your site
Same as in the above, in the search box write-
cache:websitec.om
This will show exactly when your page was cached by Google. To check for the specific pages, you will need to add the page name in the last. It will show you the date when the page was cached.
E.g- cache:semseogurus.com for home page and cache:semseogurus.com/about-us for about us page cache checking.
Cache command also gives you an option to see the plain text version of page. It is helpful as it shows how Google views your page.
4. To check the pages that are similar to your site
Related:website.com
Related operator will display the websites that are similar to your website.
